Share the Gospel

As we study the book of Romans, we are seeing one of the clearest explanations of the gospel in all of Scripture — the good news of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

One natural response to that good news is learning how to share it with others.

My prayer is that this resource encourages you. You don’t need to have every answer or say everything perfectly. Sometimes it simply begins with being willing to tell someone the good news of Jesus.

Below is a simple outline from Romans that can help guide you as you share the gospel with others.

Summary

The Problem — Everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23)
The Consequence — Sin leads to death (Romans 6:23a)
The Gift — God offers eternal life (Romans 6:23b)
The Solution — Jesus died for our sins (Romans 5:8)
The Response — Believe and confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9)

1. Start with the Problem: Sin

Key Scripture:
Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard.
Sin includes both the wrong we do and the good we fail to do.
Because God is holy, sin separates us from Him.

2. Explain the Consequence of Sin

Key Scripture:
Romans 6:23a — “For the wages of sin is death.”

Sin has a real cost.
The result of sin is death and separation from God.
“Wages” means what we earn — death is what sin ultimately leads to.

3. Share the Good News: God’s Gift

Key Scripture:
Romans 6:23b — “But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God did not leave us in our sin.
Instead, He offers eternal life as a free gift.

4. Explain What Jesus Did

Key Scripture:
Romans 5:8 — “But God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to deal with the problem of sin.
Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life
He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins
He rose from the dead

5. Explain How Someone Responds

Key Scripture:
Romans 10:9 — “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Salvation is received by trusting in Jesus.
This means believing in His resurrection and confessing Him as Lord.

6. Invite a Response

After sharing the gospel, invite the person to respond.

You might say something like:

“If you’ve never trusted Jesus before, today could be the day. You can confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. The Bible promises that when you do, you will be saved.”

Our Family Ministry Easter Egg Hunt is just around the corner, and we need your help to make it a success!

What We Need:
We’re looking for pre-filled plastic eggs with wrapped candies or small toys (stickers are always a hit, too). Please, no candies with peanuts or peanut butter for the safety of all children. ⬇︎

We’re accepting donations now through March 24.

We reached 107 percent of our December giving goal!

Dear Trinity,

I’m grateful to share the final results of our December giving.
By the close of the year, we reached 107 percent of our December giving goal.

From a practical standpoint, this allows our leadership team to steward resources wisely, plan responsibly, and support the ministries and people entrusted to our care without needing to slow momentum or make reactive decisions.

From a spiritual standpoint, it reflects a community marked by faithfulness, trust, and shared responsibility in God’s work.

Thank you for your generosity and for the way you continue to participate in the life and mission of Trinity. I am deeply grateful for you.

May we continue to see God at work in the life of our church in the year ahead.

An Exciting December Giving Update

Your response has moved us from 72% to 92% of our goal. Thank you, Trinity family.

Last week, we shared an update on our December giving and invited you to consider a year-end gift. We’re grateful to share that your response has moved us from 72 percent to 92 percent of our goal through December.

How We're Tracking This Month

So far this fiscal year, Trinity has received $768,299 toward our FY26 ministry budget. Our budget through December is $838,559, which means we’ve reached 92 percent of what’s planned for this point in the year.

That leaves $70,260 by December 31 to stay on track with our fiscal-year plan.

As a reminder, our ministry budget follows a fiscal year (April to March), and gifts made by December 31 apply to your 2025 tax year. Year-end giving plays a meaningful role in helping us finish this stretch of ministry strong.

Dear Trinity Family,

As we approach the end of the calendar year, we want to share a brief financial update and invite you to prayerfully consider supporting Trinity through a year-end gift.

How We're Tracking This Month
So far this fiscal year, Trinity has received $607,700 toward our FY26 ministry budget. Our budgeted amount through December is $838,560, meaning we’ve received 72 percent of what’s planned for this point in the year.
Reaching $230,860 by December 31 will keep us on track with our fiscal year plan.

Why December Giving Matters
Even though our ministry budget follows a fiscal year (April to March), December giving is important in helping us stay on track for the months ahead. A quick reminder that gifts made by December 31 count toward your 2025 tax year.

How to Participate ➞

Dear Trinity Family,

For centuries, Christians have been known for caring for those on the margins—feeding the hungry, sheltering the vulnerable, and offering hope in hard places. Following Jesus can call for courage and sacrifice, yet sometimes faithfulness looks as simple as sharing what we have so that someone else can eat.

We hope to raise 250 pounds of food (or more) during this drive to help New Yorkers struggling to access healthy meals. Since 2019, visits to food pantries across NYC have increased by more than 80%, and many families are finding it harder than ever to put food on the table.

Your participation helps meet a real need in a simple, powerful way.

Trinity Summer Camp is just around the corner (July 8-11) and we need your help to make it an unforgettable experience for our kids!

We’re looking for both adult and youth volunteers to serve in a variety of ways:

Set-up or clean-up
Food prep and serving
Activity support
Teaching or assisting

Even if you’re not available the whole week, we welcome whatever time you can give. A few hours of your time can make a huge difference!

Parents, non-parents, and teens - all are invited to join the team. Your presence shows our kids the joy of a church community that serves together.

Pastoral Sabbatical 2026: A Season of Renewal for Pastor Brian and Our Church

Dear Trinity,

May of 2026 marks an important milestone for our church family. Pastor Brian will be celebrating seven years as our Lead Pastor. At Trinity, we believe in caring for those who shepherd us, and that includes ensuring our pastors have time for renewal and rest. That’s why, every seven years, we provide a sabbatical for our Lead Pastor and their family, allowing them to recharge spiritually, emotionally, and physically so they can continue leading with strength and vision.

A sabbatical is not simply a vacation. It is a period of intentional rest, learning, and renewal. It is a biblical concept rooted in the idea that periods of rest strengthen and sustain long-term ministry. During this time, Pastor Brian will step away from his regular pastoral duties to seek renewal, and in turn, our congregation will have the opportunity to reflect, grow, and continue our mission in fresh and meaningful ways.

Why are we preparing for the Pastoral Sabbatical now?

We have begun applying for a grant through the Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Program, which provides funding to churches for their pastors’ sabbaticals. This program recognizes the importance of pastoral renewal and also provides financial resources to support the church during the pastor’s time away. If our application is approved, the grant will not only cover Pastor Brian’s sabbatical activities but also support our congregation with the financial resources to continue ministry and refresh our community with initiatives that will help us thrive during this season.

We are asking for your support in two key ways:

Your feedback will play a vital role in making this possible. As part of the grant application process, we need to demonstrate that our congregation understands and supports this initiative. Your participation will show that we value our pastor’s renewal and are committed to strengthening our church community.

2. Volunteer to help with the Congregational Renewal Plan - We want this to be a time of renewal for our entire congregation. Extend an invitation to our Christmas Eve Service

? Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor to join you. Our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is a beautiful reflection of the comfort and joy that Christ brings. It is one hour long, family friendly, and filled with traditional carols that are familiar to many. We end with the passing of Christ’s light as we hold candles together.

? Invitation postcards are available on Sundays with the Welcome Team in the narthex. You can also share our digital event page, located on our app and website.

Write a Christmas card

? Join us in welcoming neighbors and newcomers with season's greetings. Write a card to bring joy and encouragement to an attendee at our Christmas Eve Service. You can also write a note to a friend or loved one at Trinity or beyond—or even take a moment to write one to God or yourself. (Parents, encourage your child to write an uplifting note to someone!)

We have been so encouraged by your response to the Nyamagabe Fundraising Campaign, and it is all culminating next week, Sunday, November 24th!

Join us for Dream Sunday, where we’ll celebrate all that God is doing in Rwanda. We’ll hear from Pastor Charles of Africa New Life, receive exciting updates on our giving campaign, and learn more about how we can continue supporting this mission through child sponsorship and next year’s mission trip.

This special Sunday also coincides with our Thanksgiving celebration. We’ll enjoy a time of worship with the choir and our annual Thanksgiving potluck.
